I’ve gone to NYC and stayed in NJ, took a ferry to Manhattan, and a subway into the city from there. The whole process was a confusing mess- it was difficult to find the parking for the ferry, once I did park, I was told by an employee who happened to walk by that I would definitely get ticketed if I didn’t move to another area.
From that experience, it would be amazing to have a travel site that gave visitors an inside look at popular areas. Like, where to stay outside of the prime area, how to get around, maybe even videos of what different areas look like from a street view. Travel by car, train, plane and what to expect or done once you arrive at the destination. All those things that people think that they would have done differently when they go home, if only they had known.
That can be done by traveling and doing all the leg work yourself, or developing a network of people who are already in those areas who would contribute pictures/videos/information/insight…hmmm, in that sense, it actually sounds like a wikipedia of travel.
There would also be the potential nightmare of a headache of ensuring all your data is up-to-date and relevant, that construction or renovations don’t eviscerate that ‘inside knowledge’ angle.
