I made sure my colleagues fully understood my question: the situation would be if you no longer had any ties to any part of your current life, meaning your family was no longer in any way part of the picture, no relatives regardless of how distant, no friends, no network of acquaintances of any kind, no job, your credit and reputation so beyond repair that there was absolutely nothing left to salvage. In that scenario, choosing to live on the streets would indicate that you still wanted to at least have some semblance of a tie to society, culture, humanity, whether you were actually a part of it or not, but keeping the hope alive that one day, you would return to it. My peers did make an interesting point that even though there are soup kitchens and shelters, resources are limited and there have been many instances of fights for beds, sometimes leading to fatal injuries.
Roughing it out in the wilderness would be completely turning away from mankind and everything associated with it, to mentally be removed to a different plane of existence from everything you know and having no plan or expectation of returning; giving up on everything that separates people from animals. Utter isolation.
Ethan voted with me to vanish into the bushland with the best case scenario being to unload any remaining capital at a camping depot to stock up on survival gear. Whereas John and Joe came up with a complicated plot where starving on the streets would provide them with a strategic opportunity to slim down and at the same time, those circumstances would give them the free time they currently do not possess to work out (because that’s all that’s holding them back now, though supposedly they would also be giving each other very helpful constant encouragement and support, holy hell). The two concurrent events would undoubtedly and inevitably result in them getting into amazing physical shape where they could write their own ticket at any male (straight) strip club. That kind of digresses from the whole point of not having friends, but since that detail is not, by far, the most ridiculous aspect of the story, I’ll let it slide.
The best part of this whole saga is it re-sparked my interest in the social media episode and my recharged search was successful!
This isn’t even that bad, but it is so obviously an oversight of a mistake, and the original poster’s response so eloquently brings it back to hilarity. Needless to say, the department is now very careful of re-posts.
Enjoy 🙂

>>Bonus Feature!! Video of a man who built a respectable living space under a bridge. Less impressive but still resourceful is this encampment. Making use of wasted space…
